Did you ever play that game Operation as a kid (or even as an adult)? There was nothing more frustrating that concentrating so hard only to hit that darned buzzer to lose your turn. So what in the world does a child’s game have to do with my business? Surprisingly enough, it’s a pretty good analogy to hydro excavation. Read more to find out.
Care Is Critical
For a moment, think of our hydro excavating equipment as the tweezers in the Operation game. They’re very precise and able to carefully pick up the tiny game pieces without hitting the buzzer. A spoon wouldn’t work because it doesn’t have the precision required. A pair of pliers would be too wide. That is exactly how our hydro excavation equipment can be: exact and careful. Hydro excavation equipment is utilizes pressurized water to remove soil or debris around buried pipes or equipment. It’s more precise that heavy equipment and less time than shoveling by hand.
No Heavy-Handedness
Traditional methods for unearthing pipes, poles, or signage are very rough and tumble. Backhoes, bull dozers, and excavators are all great for digging the holes in pristine land. When there are sensitive materials underneath, such as sewer lines or water mains, a light hand is critical. When you play the game, a delicate touch is important. If you go in with a heavy hand, you’re likely to touch the edge and set off the buzzer.
Lose A Turn
In Operation, you simply lose a turn if you set off the buzzer. However, in reality, “touching the edge” could cost more than just sitting out a round. Punctured pipes or severed lines can cause environmental damages, loss time, and additional resources, all of which can cost a pretty penny. Hydro excavation allows you the chance to maneuver carefully and avoid damages more easily than the traditional route.
